The Knicks are just about 24 hours away from their home opener against the Grizzlies and the moment Derrick Rose is announced, fans will go wild. Will fans thoroughly enjoy his style of playing? Derrick Rose seems to think so.
When the Knicks first announced that Derrick Rose was joining the team, many people cheered for this while others had their doubt. He’s here to prove a few people wrong but after spending 8 season with the Bulls, this change might do him good as it is a change of crowd. Rose firmly believes that Knicks fans will enjoy what he’s going to bring to the court. He discussed what he meant by this just a little more.
“What I meant was that in Chicago, they’ve seen me play my entire life,’’ Rose said. ”I went away for six months in Memphis (for college), wasn’t even a year, then I was back in Chicago. I won sixth grade, seventh grade, eighth grade, ninth grade, missed 10th grade, won championships in 11th and 12th grades. They saw me at my peak. And it’s kind of hard. I know both sides. It’s kind of hard to see a player who once was so dominant – now he’s trying to figure his way back. It’s all about having patience. No hard feelings toward them. That’s what I mean.
Coming here to New York, they were so busy looking at their team that when I came here one, two times a year, they noticed I could hoop but it’s kind of different than being part of the team.’’
In other words, is he looking to restore faith again? That might be apart of it but it’s great to see the enthusiasm he has towards wanting to play in New York City. In his debut, he had 17 points and 3 rebounds for the night.
Be sure to tune in as the Knicks face the Grizzlies in their home opener at the Garden at 7:30 pm.
