While the country struggles with deciding who to vote for President this November, NFL players show there may be similar racial divides in the locker room as well.
In a recent poll done by Mike Freeman of Bleacher Report, 21 out of 21 white players stated they plan on voting for Donald Trump. Out of the remaining 22 players who were asked, only 2 African Americans said they plan on voting Republican on Nov 8th.
When asked if this clear racial divide among political views spills over into the locker room, the answer is not surprising. Just as American’s seem to be getting into daily arguments on Facebook and Twitter about Clinton vs. Trump or Minorities vs. Whites, disagreements between players often lead to uneasy locker room environments.
The poll also shows that most White players don’t vocalize their support for Trump, and seem to tip toe around the idea of supporting him to due the unpopularity of his opinions.
While National Anthem protests sweep across the nation, the growing divide between minorities and those who seek to hold them down seems to grow on a daily basis. Will we see this segregation creep into the NFL and cause team chemistries to implode? We’ll soon find the answer to our questions come Nov. 8.
