The fallout continues in the Josh Brown saga, and as more details are revealed, the image of the NFL and Roger Goodell continue to be tarnished. Josh Brown is a life long domestic abuser that admitted to his own team that he abused his wife, yet he was still employed by the Giants and received support from his head coach.
After the Ray Rice video, the NFL instituted a zero tolerance policy towards domestic violence that was supposed to severely punish abusers, but for some reason Josh Brown was ignored or protected, despite mountains of evidence pointing to a pattern of abuse.
Now that police documents have been released detailing Brown’s abuse, NFL players have reacted strongly voicing their disgust as to how the Giants and the NFL could allow Josh Brown to remain an employee.
Bleacher Report columnist Mike Freeman spoke with several players and tweeted their reactions.
Players are also checking in with me. More than a few stated outright they believe Josh Brown got a break because Brown is white.

Other players texting not about race. More about NFL doing favors for owners who have good relationship with Goodell.

Earlier this week Rodger Goodell spoke about the rules crack down against excessive celebrations, and cited that his main concern was the impact dancing too much would have on children that watch the games. He said NFL players are role models, and players must set the proper example for children. He said this after the league suspended Josh Brown for a single game for beating and terrorizing his wife for decades. Instead of vetting Josh Brown completely by accessing publicly available divorce and police records, the NFL felt that a one game suspension would suffice for Brown even though their new conduct policy carries a six game suspension. If Goodell truly believes that all players are role models for children, his concern should be to ensure that all employees are held accountable in the same manner for abusing women. It’s truly sad to see the NFL launch a crackdown on dancing, while ignoring a life long domestic abuser with psychological issues.
