Talk about wanting to evaporate.
We are sure that’s what Bryant freshman Ikenna Ndugba wanted to do after he mistakenly ran out the clock in his team’s loss to Brown Monday night. Brown’s Tavon Blackmon scored a coast to coast go ahead layup with 4 seconds remaining.
Ndugba took the inbounds pass and apparently did not realize that his team was down 90-91. After dribbling out the clock, he threw the ball into the air in celebration. In all fairness, quite a lot happened in the last 12 seconds of the game.
Bryant’s Nisre Zouzoua hit a 3-pointer to put his team up 90-89 with under 12 seconds left before Blackmon scored the go-ahead layup. Mistaking the deficit for an advantage was unfortunate for the young player.
Luckily, it’s still early in the season and there will be plenty of opportunities for redemption.
