The NFL says it cares about their players however having football on Thursday nights doesn’t really show that. Players are too banged up and you hear most players say after their game on Sunday, they don’t feel “normal” until Wed/Thurs anyway.
Finally, due to heavy criticism, it looks the NFL will listen. Profootballtalk report along with the criticism and quality of games on Thursday nights, scattered suggestions have emerged in recent weeks that the NFL could pull the plug on the experiment.
A source with knowledge of the situation says,
The league will be considering the possibility of ending, or at least limiting, Thursday Night Football.
The contracts with NBC and CBS run through 2017 which means changes would be made by 2018.
Some of the options the NFL have are getting rid of Thursday games completely and possibly starting the package at Thanksgiving and continuing it through the end of the season or they can just add an extra game on Sunday or Monday Night which makes more sense.
Thursday Night Football is alright and it’s rare that you actually get a good game.
