Dan Le Batard is the host of his own radio show on ESPN and the acclaimed television show Highly Questionable.
The thing that makes the tv show work is the chemistry between Dan, his co-host Bomani Jones, and Gonzalo (Papi) his father. The three share a tremendous cohesion no doubt enhanced by Dan’s love for Papi.
On Monday’s radio show Dan talked about how he is often approached by people who tell him to teach his father English. Mind you, if you’ve ever watched the show, Papi does speak English. According to Complex Magazine Dan decided to respond to someone that tweeted that to him on Monday:
A tweeter writes in, ‘Hey, fat face, can you teach your father English please?’ That one happens all the time. My father came to this country not speaking any English. He’s got a Master’s degree in industrial engineering. He is doing television and radio with me in his second language. He’s smarter than you are.
Nice burn by Dan. Mot much to say after that.
The person who tweeted that clearly has a problem with English in a Cuban accent. As Dan says, he gets this stuff all the time. With the victory of President-Elect Trump, a group of people will certainly feel the need to voice their xenophobic opinions louder and stronger.
