It’s pretty common knowledge around the NFL that the Bears & QB Jay Cutler will be going their separate ways after what’s shaping up to be a rough season for the two.
After a poor showing in a 36-10 drubbing at the hands of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers; Cutler has reportedly begun hemorrhaging support within the Bears locker room.
Bleacher Report’s Mike Freeman elaborates further:
Two Bears players indicated in text messages that most of his teammates have given up on Cutler.
One of those players also told Freeman that Cutler’s lack of preparation during the week leading up to the game was “truly embarrassing.”
Despite that, Bears head coach John Fox told reporters that Cutler will be the starting quarterback going forward.
Though I’m pretty comfortable in saying this report is accurate; not every Bears player has jumped the Cutler-ship just yet.
“He’s a great quarterback,” defensive lineman Akiem Hicks told reporters, defending Cutler. “Everybody’s behind him.”
Tight end Zach Miller also told reporters that he believed that it was a “complete BS report in my opinion.”
If the anonymous player’s texts to Mike Freeman are true, it stands to reason why Cutler was so bad Sunday. He went 16/30 for only 182 yards with a hail mary prayer TD and 2 interceptions.
After missing 5 weeks with a hand injury, and the Bears rapidly losing the season at 2-7, these types of performances will definetly seal Cutler’s departure at the end of the year; if they haven’t already.
