People will do anything for attention including dressing as Santa and making up a heart wrenching story that instantly went viral.
According to DailyMail.com, Eric Schmitt-Matzen shared his story during an interview which brought tears to his own eyes. Schmitt-Matzen, a 60-year-old, shared his very touching story about how he granted the wishes of a terminally ill kid. He said during his interview that he went to visit a kid in the hospital who was suffering from a terminal illness. During the visit the 5-year-old kid died while Santa was holding him.
This story would bring tears to anyone eyes except there is one problem, the whole story is likely made up. The Knoxville News Sentinel reported that despite the story being reported by them, they have been unable to confirm that the story is true. DailyMail.com reached out to five hospitals in the Eastern Tennessee are to attempt to verify the story. A spokesperson from East Tennessee Children’s Hospital, Tennova Healthcare and Jellico Community Hospital all confirmed the Santa visit didn’t take place at their location.
I’m not going to call Eric Schmitt-Matzen a liar yet because all bases haven’t been covered, this could simply be some kind of mix up. Then again, if he is lying, it proves how sick some people are and how low they will go for attention.
