Thabo Sefolosha should know that Carmelo Anthony isn’t the one!
Any Knicks fan who bought a ticket in Atlanta to see Carmelo Anthony on Wednesday night was highly disappointed after the scoring machine exited the game mad early.
The All-Star forward exited nearly two and a half quarters early after receiving a flagrant foul-2 for hitting Atlanta Hawks swingman Thabo Sefolosha in the face while fighting for a rebound with just over three minutes remaining in the second quarter of Wednesday’s contest, with the Hawks holding a three-point lead.
Likely tired of Thabo pestering him after rebounds, Melo crushed the Hawks star defender with a blow to the jaw and pushing him backward.
Upon review, the officials ruled Anthony’s shot to Sefolosha’s head constituted “unnecessary and excessive” contact, prompting them to assess a flagrant-2, which brings with it an automatic ejection.
Melo refused to speak to reporters afterwards.
