Yesterday’s Christmas game between the Warriors and Cavs marked another installment in the league’s best rivalry. In the end the game lived up to the hype. It was closely contested throughout then the Warriors opened up a 14 point lead in the 4th quarter. The Cavs mounted a furious comeback led by Kyrie Irving and LeBron James. Uncle Drew hit the game winner, a fadeaway jumper over the outstretched arm of Klay Thompson.
The Warriors blew another lead, and the Cleveland Morning Journal couldn’t resist taking a shot. The headline read: Clutch Kyrie caps Cavs’ Christmas with the subhead Warriors blow 3-1 lead (sorry, muscle memory) 14-point lead in fourth quarter.
The Cavs, their fans, and the local media are still reveling in their dramatic NBA Finals win. This latest bit of pettiness is just more fuel to the fire. The NBA needs rivalries and this is great theatre.
