Cris Cyborg has been the most dominant woman in MMA for the past 8+ years and her limited time in the UFC has been more of the same. Cyborg has pushed her body to fight catch weight bouts for the UFC and she’s done putting her health in jeopardy for a chance to compete for the organization.
During an interview with El Comerico in Peru, Cyborg had this to say about the UFC adding a 145lb division and her future with the company.
“The main thing is that I have two fights left in my division,” said Cyborg. “I’m going to stay in my division, and see if the UFC opens up my division, or if they don’t do it, I’m going to leave.”
Cyborg is aware of her earning potential, she’s headlined several fights for the UFC already and is the #1 female MMA attraction in Brazil, so she’ll honor her contract but shop her talents to the UFC’s largest competitors.
“I’ll keep fighting so that they open more divisions. If I don’t have a division in the UFC, I’m going to go to another company like Rizin or Bellator or another organization where they have my division. I’ll keep fighting for that.”
Cyborg has shown that she’s more than just a knockout artist and with the impending return of Rousey fans expected the two to square off in the octagon. Only time and Dana White will tell if that happens.
