Former lightweight boxing champ Paul Spadorfa is in trouble with the law again. According to the Pittsburgh Post Gazette, Spadorfa was arrested Wednesday night after allegedly stabbing his brother and assaulting his brother.
Police were called to the scene and reported Spadorfa “assumed a fighting stance,” and did not comply with their commands. Officers had to subdue Spadorfa using a taser after he grew increasingly belligerent and threw a ceramic object at the officers. Spadorfa was arrested and charged with three counts of aggravated assault, simple assault and making terroristic threats. He is being held on $100,000 bail.
The ex-boxing champ’s history of being a violent criminal offender is well documented. He served two years in jail for the non-fatal shooting of his girlfriend. In April, he was also charged with assaulting a 63-year-old woman outside of a bar in Crafton.
It is very interesting how we choose to deal with certain types of people in society. Here we have an obvious violent criminal. A repeat criminal offender. How should society deal with a man that clearly has issues and needs to be removed from the public because he is a danger to people around him? If we say he has anger issues and needs professional help, is that how we should treat all violent offenders? Food for thought.
