The Kings have fined Boogie Cousins for his profanity laced tirade against media columnist Andy Furillo. The Sacramento Bee is reporting that the fine is $50,000. Following Boogie’s confrontation with Furillo, the Kings released a statement:
The Kings have a clear set of standards of conduct expected of our entire organization. As a result of negative interactions with certain members of the media that were not corrected after verbal warnings, we have decided to impose a substantial fine. If this behavior is repeated again we will be forced to consider further discipline.
Boogie was wrong for going after Furillo. Players never win those types of confrontations. He needs to learn how to manage his anger better and control his emotions when dealing with the media. But, this incident goes beyond Boogie’s maturity. The Sacramento Kings are a dumpster fire. The organization is being run very poorly and their direction is uncertain. As soon as his contract is up, I suspect Boogie will go running to the best option outside of Sacramento.
