The headline of this match was “Champion vs Champion.” That was indeed the case tonight when we saw these two champions go toe to toe. Badou Jack and James DeGale promised a show and that’s what we got. The fight resulted in a draw.
During the press conference, both boxers were confident in their power and when it came time to put their power to the test, one boxer showed up more in the first few rounds. James DeGale was dominating from rounds 1-4 but then, Badou Jack woke up in the fifth round. He had studied his opponent well enough and it was about time. From then, ladies and gentlemen, we had ourselves a fight.
Although DeGale looked tired, he kept up with Jack and even showed a little more speed than usual. In fact, even the ref got a piece of this action in the eighth round as Badou mistakenly punched him. The ref definitely earned his paycheck. Life lesson-stay away from Badou’s left hook.

Then came the twelfth round and that’s when Badou dropped DeGale on the floor. Some fans thought it might’ve been a knock out but that was not the case. A match that many thought would have ended earlier did not. It even had the judges confused and thus, it resulted in a draw.
The disappointment reigned strong on Jack’s face. This is yet again another draw for the boxer. However, during the post-fight conference, Floyd Mayweather expressed that he is not interested in a rematch.
