After Floyd Mayweather defeated Manny Pacquiao by decision two years ago, the boxing icon improved his record to (49-0). While that’s an undefeated record, many were wondering if he would like to make it a glamorous (50-0).
For over a year now, there’s been speculation of a potential Mayweather-McGregor bout. However, there’s been no reason to believe this fight will actually surface.
Nonetheless, Floyd seems to be for it at the right price.
“We tried to make the Conor McGregor fight. They know what my number is,” Mayweather told ESPN. “My number was a guaranteed $100 million, that was my number. We’re the ‘A’ side and I don’t really know how much money Conor McGregor has made. I’m pretty sure he hasn’t even made $10 million in a MMA bout.
“But we are willing to give him $15 million and then we can talk about splitting the percentage, the back end percentage on pay-per-view. But of course, we’re the ‘A’ side. How can a guy talk about $20 or $30 million if he’s never made $8 or $9 million?”
McGregor has demanded $100 million guaranteed as well, so both sides are clearly way off with their numbers. From an entertainment standpoint, it would be amazing to see these two world-class athletes go at it, but I wouldn’t hold my breath.
