LeBron is full grumpy dad mode. The Cavs have lost a third straight game after losing to the Kings at home in OT. GM LeBron made headlines a few days ago saying the Cavs need a playmaker. Who knows if that was a bat signal or if it was to get Kyrie & co. going.
Then, he hops on Twitter and tweets us some Big Sean lyrics about bouncing back. The twitter thing is a LeBron tactic seeing how he did that last year as well.
Lately taken L’s, but very soon we’ll bounce back
Boy, frustrating as hell, I know my team we’ll bounce back
If you a real one…..— LeBron James (@KingJames) January 24, 2017
He said HE isn’t mad at management, he just feels they need to improve to repeat.
However, reports indicate that he may not be mad but he’s certainly frustrated and there’s tension in the air.
ESPN‘s Brian Windhorst reports, James and Gilbert have different viewpoints on the amount that’s being spent and needs to be spent on the roster.
This was one of the reason why LeBron to returned to Cleveland in 2014.
When James was considering a return to the Cavs in 2014, he pressed Gilbert on if he’d be willing to spend unconditionally on talent, regardless of the luxury-tax cost, sources said. Over the course of several meetings with James and his representatives, Gilbert agreed, and James subsequently signed with the team.
Gilbert spent $107 million in salaries and $54 million in luxury tax, last season and they won. So, Gilbert is spending money however LeBron feels differently about it.
James, however, has grown frustrated. He perceives that the Cavaliers have slowed new spending after winning their first championship, sources said.
They acquired Kyle Korver, but that’s really been the only move. They are struggling so their problems seem bigger than it is. JR Smith is out, it’s the end of January, it’s cold in Cleveland and yet, they’re still the #1 seed in the east.
LeBron runs the east and they’ll get back to the finals. Gilbert might just feel confident because they did come back from a 3-1 deficit to beat the greatest regular season team ever.
We’ll likely revisit this conversation if Gilbert doesn’t do anything and the Cavs end up losing in the finals.
