There were a lot of high hopes for the New York Knicks this season with the moves they made in the offseason, but things have gone south for the franchise ever since. Now with the trade deadline about a month away the trade rumors will begin to circulate around Carmelo and whether he wants to stay. According to Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders it looks like Melo is going down with the ship.
“A source close to Anthony says he’s unwilling to green-light a trade out of New York, even with how bad it’s turned.”
I admire Melo for wanting to stick it out, but if he wants to win a championship it won’t be with the Knicks with the team that they have. The only promising piece on the Knicks roster appears to be Porzingis at the moment. With a GM in Phil Jackson who is ruffling feathers with some of his comments it won’t make it easy for the Knicks to acquire big time free agents for Melo.
Melo still has a lot left in the tank but if he wants to win his first ring he needs to find a way to get out of New York.
