Donald Trump’s ridiculous travel ban has affected so many people in one form or another. St. Louis Cardinals’ center fielder Dexter Fowler is no exception. Fowler’s wife Darya is Iranian and the ban hit home for Fowler.
Last week, Fowler called Trump’s irrational Executive Order “unfortunate”. This week, Fowler stood by his comments despite the criticism he faced on Twitter and other social media.
I gave nothing away. I’m always going to care for my family, and if a question is asked out of concern, I’m going to answer the question truthfully. It’s not to hurt anybody. It’s my perspective. It’s unfortunate that people think of things that way, but I believe they’re sensitive. I’m not the sensitive one.
Fowler’s sister-in-law Sadaf Baghbani went to Qatar for business and has delayed her return to avoid being detained. The Fowlers’ plan to visit Iran so that their daughter could meet her extended family has also been shelved in the wake of Trump’s ban on seven Muslim-majority nations.
We’re sure Dexter’s love is more than skin deep, but Darya is pretty easy on the eyes as well. Flip the pages for photos of the lovely Mrs. Fowler.
