If you thought the Falcons defense was on the field a lot during the Super Bowl, get ready, because that could become the norm.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport is reporting that Chip Kelly is a candidate to replace Kyle Shanahan as offensive coordinator in Atlanta.
That vacancy comes as Shanahan departs to become the head coach in San Francisco, where Kelly was fired after one season.
According to the report, the next offensive coordinator would be asked to retain the system Shanahan implemented and the Falcons’ offense executed to produce franchise-record numbers.
Kelly loves the spread and fast tempo offense that made his Oregon Ducks so successful, so it might not be a fit.
