Soon the trilogy of Cavs-Warriors will be upon us.
Cleveland has been loading up to prepare for what should be the best chapter in the battle between these two teams. Reports have the Cavaliers adding Center Andrew Bogut into the fold once his buyout is completed with Philadelphia. Their latest addition, Deron Williams, adds stability to the backcourt solidifying the back-up point guard position. It shouldn’t take Williams long to get acclimated to his new teammates.
I played with Kyle [Korver] and he’s one of my good friends and we still talk [to this day]. I just feel like I’ll be comfortable here. I’ll have a significant role here, with the need for a backup for Kyrie [Irving] and also being able to play with Kyrie. We get a chance to play together and of course competing for a championship is something that I haven’t had a chance to do.
While not the elite ball handler he once was, Williams brings playmaking aspects averaging 13.1 Points, 6.9 Assists and 2.6 Rebounds on the season. After Cleveland’s win Monday vs the Bucks, LeBron spoke out on his admiration of D-Will.
Automatic leadership. He’s run a franchise, multiple franchises before, so you know he knows how to run a ball club. He’s played in big games before so you know he won’t shy away in the moment. And he can knock down shots and he can play-make.
Defeating the 73-win Warriors was one thing but following that up with a Championship over a Warriors team with Kevin Durant may be the crown jewel for Lebron’s legacy if he can pull it off.
