Looks like somebody loves Kanye like Kanye loves Kanye.
On Thursday a golden statue of Kanye West appeared on the corner of Hollywood Boulevard and La Brea Avenue in the city of Hollywood. Created by LA street artist Plastic Jesus, the statue likens West to Jesus being crucified while wearing YEEZY Boost 350 trainers and a description plate entitled ‘False Idol.’
According to NME.com, the statue will also appear in Plastic Jesus’ exhibition with Billy Morrison, ‘Anesthesia: The Art of Oblivion,’ on February 24.
Speaking to Hollywood Reporter, Plastic Jesus calls Kanye a “genius” but concedes he’s not God.
“[West is] a genius at writing and producing but he’s not a God, and that’s where we put him. Until there’s an issue in his life or a hiccup in his career, then we crucify him,”
“By all means, treat and respect these people as artists, but don’t make them into gods – because we crucify our gods.”
Hopefully someone won’t jack the statue for the Yeezys before I can snag a picture. For additional pictures of the statue, flip the pages.
