Pats TE Rob Gronkowski went in on NFL commissioner Roger Goodell in a recent interview with ESPN. The outlandish all pro said Goodell would not be welcomed in Gillette Stadium. He is probably right. The Pats fans know how to hold a grudge better than any fan base and there is a certain us against them provincial mentality in New England. Look out Rog. In the interview Gronk said:
“I don’t think he can even land in the airport in Boston, because Patriots fans are the best fans. They’re the most loyal fans. I’m telling you, they might just carry Roger out themselves.”
The Pats just won the franchise’s fifth Super Bowl earlier this month. Widely viewed by the team and its fans as vindication for “deflategate.” Much was made about what would happen when Goodell handed the trophy to Bob Kraft, Bill Belichick and Tom Brady. For the most part it was much to do about nothing. Team owner Bob Kraft did allude to it during his victory speech, to the delight of all the Pats fans at the game. Gronk clearly has the pulse of the Pats fans and knows how they will react. See the video below.
