Michael Floyd’s story is one that gets several opinions going and it’s completely understandable. Floyd has been complying with change but a few folks are upset that he’s a Super Bowl champion after getting cut by the Cardinals due his DUI.
In case you didn’t watch the Super Bowl, the Patriots have won and their fans still won’t pipe down about it. However, this case is quite peculiar and it’s worth discussing. Michael Floyd’s future might be in jeopardy because of his arrest back in December. His blood alcohol level led him to be arrested and charged with a DUI. The Patriots took the opportunity to pick him up since he was cut by the Cardinals. Even though he didn’t play on Sunday, he is now a Super Bowl champion. If one thing is not in jeopardy, it’s his Super Bowl ring.
With barely 2 weeks on the team, Floyd is expected to earn $1.2 million. As you can already imagine, he was quite happy to win but others on Twitter, definitely voiced their opinions.
Talk about a 180. #believeinyourself #SuperBowlChampions pic.twitter.com/Z2YVVLlBfJ

His tweet in regards to a pulling a 180 might’ve been appropriate for him but perhaps he should’ve worded it better since wording is everything. The case against him hasn’t even started yet.
Floyd’s acquisition equaled a grand total of three games (two regular season contests, one playoff) and he’s coming out with $1.2 million added to his bank account and a Super Bowl ring for his five total catches on with Belichick’s football club. As you may have noticed, Floyd was inactive for Sunday’s Pats comeback win, but a limited presence with your team isn’t treated as harshly jewelry wise as other sports ventures. Where he ends up may depend on how his current legal situation plays out. Floyd is scheduled for a pretrial hearing later this month. If convicted, he may face jail time.
We’ll keep our eyes close on this one because it’s sure to unfold in the most interesting of ways for the former first round pick.
