Fresh off his court side appearance at Sunday’s Knicks game, Latrell Sprewell is part of the latest group of signees for Ice Cube’s 3 on 3 basketball league. The rest of the group include: J.R. Rider, Earl Boykins, Brian Cook and Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf.
This group adds to an already famous collection of former NBA ballers, including: Allen Iverson, Chauncey Billups, Gary Payton, Kenyon Martin, Stephen Jackson, Jermaine O’Neal, Rashard Lewis, Jason Williams, Bonzi Wells, Mike Bibby, George “The Iceman” Gervin, Ricky Davis, Al Harrington, Rick Barry, Rick Mahorn, Clyde Drexler, Kenny Anderson, Jamario Moon, Smush Parker, Ruben Patterson and Etan Thomas. Payton, Gervin, Barry, Mahorn and Drexler will serve as coaches, with Iverson serving as a player/coach – the rest are confirmed to play.
The BIG3 will hold a combine for all players in the draft pool in April. Following the combine, the BIG3 will hold a draft with each of the eight teams’ captains filling out their five player rosters. League play will begin this summer.
