ESPN’s Josina Anderson and Adam Schefter are reporting that the Raiders are seriously considering trading for retired running back Marshawn Lynch. Despite being retired, per NFL rules, the Seahawks still own Lynch’s rights. If the Raiders indeed want to acquire Lynch, via trade is the only available option. There is a scenario where the Seahawks could just release Lynch, but that has salary cap ramifications.
Lynch was one of the more productive backs in the league during his stint in Seattle, it’s no surprise the Raiders would want to add him to their backfield. Lynch hasn’t given much indication about itching to comeback to football. He has, in the past, told his close friends it would be a dream to play for his hometown Raiders.
