Ice Cube’s BIG3 3on3 pro basketball league has a venue for its inaugural game. Taking in last night’s Knicks v Nets matchup in Brooklyn, the league’s brass and some of its players announced that the league’s first game will tip off on June 25th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
On hand were Ice Cube, Jeff Kwatinetz, President & Commissioner Roger Mason Jr., Player/Coach Charles Oakley and Captain Stephen Jackson. Cube couldn’t have been happier about the announcement saying:
Brooklyn has been on our radar since we started the BIG3. From the pickup courts to the pros, New York’s hoops history is unrivaled. Legends are born here, and kicking this thing off at the iconic Barclays Center could not be more fitting.
Kicking off in Brooklyn is another great move in a series of good moves by Cube and Kwatinetz. Getting the BIG3 on big stages like NYC is paramount to the league’s future success and all important revenue streams. If the league can secure agreements and commitments from arenas and cities that host NBA franchises the sky is the limit.
Games will be played every weekend starting June 25 in a different arena and city. All four games will take place on the same day in the same venue, giving fans the chance to see all of their favorite NBA superstars at one time. Tickets go on sale Saturday March 18th.
