Draft Prospect Praise Martin-Oguike Talks To BSO About Being Falsely Accused of Rape (Video)

We had the pleasure of interviewing an NFL Prospect, Praise Martin-Oguike, who overcame a lot of obstacles. He was accused of rape but his faith is something that never disappeared. His story will inspire you to persevere.

When you overcome something in your life, you feel as if the elephant that’s been weighing you down finally got off. One can only imagine the sigh of relief that NFL Draftee Praise Martin-Oguike felt. Here is his story.

The woman told police Martin-Oguike assaulted her in May 2012 in his dorm room. Martin-Oguike said the encounter was consensual.

Martin-Oguike’s attorney James Funt said charges were dropped after a review of the woman’s text messages with her friends indicated she was not truthful about being raped.

Funt said the former Temple linebacker was victimized by the woman “simply because he would not agree to have a romantic long-term relationship with her.”

Perseverance and faith. These are two words that can definitely describe this young man. Through it all, he kept his head in the game (literally), and continued to trust in his innocence. In addition to entering the draft, he also managed to beat Muhammad Wilkerson’s sack record, which he set back at Temple.

Back in November, Martin-Oguike had eyes on him as he continued to impress us with his sacks. His athleticism is soaring high and it’s only going to get better.

Does he have a preference in regards to which team picks him up? Not at all. He’s a man who’s living out his dream. We look forward to seeing where he’ll land because any team can surely use his defense.
