This man should definitely go down as a donkey of the day. Timothy Taffe claims that she was never preyed on young girls, but his actions speak otherwise.
Via The Daily Mail:
Timothy Taffe, 71, had his advances repeatedly rebuffed by the girl who told him she was a young teenager.
Taffe also took photos of the girl at church, offered her alcohol and asked her to be his “secret friend”.
The American sex offender said the devil made him do it, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
Taffe, from Florida, volunteered as a greeter at St. Benedict’s Episcopal Church in Plantation, Fort Lauderdale.
He targeted the young girl and admitted a federal charge of attempting to entice a minor to engage in sexual activity.
The girl’s grandmother reported the email exchanges to Father Alberto Cutie at the church, according to court records.
The police were brought in, and Taffe was arrested in a sting at a shopping centre where he hoped to have sex with the girl.
The court was told he had promised to give her his BMW and his “inheritance” if she had sex with him.
He also secretly took photos of her at church events, offered her alcohol and asked her to be his “secret friend”.
He also sent explicit pictures of himself, unaware the police now had control of her phone and email.
In court, he claimed it was all about playing out “dark, fictional fantasies” in his mind, and added: “I think the devil really had control of me in those filthy conversations.”
Taffe has been sentenced to 10 years in prison and will also be registered as a sex offender. In addition, he has to undergo sex offender treatment.
