LaVar Ball is at it again. This time he took some time to explain why UCLA lost in the Sweet 16 to Kentucky. Of course, he didn’t blame his son Lonzo. He pointed the finger at his three white teammates for being to slow.
“Realistically you can’t win no championship with three white guys because the foot speed is too slow,” LaVar Ball said. “I told Lonzo – ‘One of these games you might need to go for 30 or 40 points.’ It turned out the that was the one game. Then once they get to the Elite 8, they’re right there.”
LaVar Ball has a chance to be an endearing wrestling-like character in the sports world as his sons rise to fame, but comments like these are not helping at all. There appears to be nothing off-limits for LaVar Ball, and throwing his son’s teammates under the bus while using a stereotype is just par for the course.
Lonzo Ball finished with 10 points and eights assists in the game, compared to De’Aaron Fox’s 39 points for Kentucky. Of course there is no mention of that disparity, because things are different in LaVar Ball’s world.
