With the release of the anticipated Tupac Shakur Biopic All Eyez On Me rapidly approaching (June 16), debates and conspiracy theories surrounding the details of his death are returning to the forefront of conversation among his fans as they await the film.
The primary details have remained the same over the last 20+ years.
- Shakur was in Las Vegas to watch Mike Tyson vs. Bruce Sheldon
- Early that evening Shakur was involved in an altercation with Orlando Anderson, an alleged member of the Southside Crips.
- Shakur was later shot while traveling in a car with Death Row head Suge Knight. He later died from his gunshot wounds.
(There are some who debate that last point)
With the police unable to identify his killer, conspiracy theorists and fans turned to debating the specifics of his death, the killer(s) and whether or not he’s currently living in Cuba in the years following.
In a new documentary surrounding the death of Tupac entitled, “Murder Rap: Inside the Biggie and Tupac Murders,” James McDonald, formerly known as “Mob James,” opens up about his association with Suge Knight and Death Row Records, and the murder of Tupac Shakur in Las Vegas. According to Hot New Hip Hop McDonald, a Blood Piru OG Mob, was a bodyguard for Pac and Suge Knight in the heyday of Death Row Records.
“If Tupac would have stand to the side and watched, and if Suge would have said, “No you my money, you ain’t finna get in no fight, get over there,’ Tupac would be still alive right now in the day. And this is the only reason why he died, he interfered in something he had no power in,” Mob James said.
McDonald goes on to say that Pac ‘likely died at the hands of South Side crips.’
McDonald says he’s speaking out now because he needed to get the story off his his chest.
“That’s why I’m here. That’s the only thing that matter to me; exposing the devil,” he said.
