In front of a crowd of 90,000 screaming fans at London’s Wembley Stadium, Anthony Joshua took his seat atop of boxing’s heavyweight thrown by defeating Wladimir Klitschko in the 11th round of action.
In a thrilling match-up punctuated by knockouts in the 5th (Klitschko) and 6th (Joshua), the younger man prevailed after connecting with the a vicious uppercut that left the former champion stunned and wobbly on his feet.
What’s next for Joshua? In the post-fight interview he called for semi-retired former champion Tyson Fury or possibly a rematch with Klitschko. Also waiting in the wings, the winner of Shannon Briggs vs. Fres Oquendo for the WBA title or WBC champion Deontay Wilder.
