Bad day from the start, or was it just written in the stars?
Just a few hours before losing Game 6 in the first round to the Washington Wizards, Atlanta Hawks center Dwight Howard was pulled over for speeding in the early morning hours of April 29th.
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Howard was pulled over at 2:06 a.m. on Saturday, April 29 for going 95 mph in a 65 mph zone in his blue Audi RS 7. The report obtained by the AJC state’s that police ran Howard’s plates and found that he was driving uninsured and with a suspended registration.
Along with having his car towed, the Hawks center was issued a ticket for failing to have insurance but received a verbal warning for the speeding and suspended registration.
Talk about starting the day off on the wrong foot. With such a big day just hours away, I’m sure this was the last thing Howard needed.
Later that evening, The Hawks would go on to be eliminated 115-99. During the game Howard played 23 minutes, scored 9 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. The fewest minutes played by any of the Hawks’ starters that game.
A Hawks spokesman declined to comment Monday on the incident involving Howard.
