Christmas is not the only time to give back.
Jay Z is donating his time, and money to help out students who are dealing with financial hardships when trying to further their education.
eBay for Charity and Jay Z’s mother Gloria Carter, co-founder of the Shawn Carter Foundation kicked off the auction on May 15th at 8:00 a.m. PDT. This opportunity is designed to give fans the chance to bid on signed memorabilia, unforgettable experiences like meeting stars such as CC Ward, Nick Jonas and Demi Lovato.
From chances to attend a VIP lounge party at the 40/40 Club in New York City, win Made in America VIP passes, or the unforgettable opportunity to meet the New York Yankees’ CC Sabathia or the Seattle Mariners’ Robinson. The prize options are unlimited.
All proceeds from the auction will 100% benefit the Shawn Carter Foundation.
When fans donate directly to the Shawn Carter Foundation, they will be automatically entered to win a VIP Day at Roc Nation Headquarters. Which will include a meeting with Roc Nation executives, hosting a listening session with members of Roc Nation’s A&R and marketing teams, a photoshoot on Roc Nation’s famous gold couch and dinner for two at The 40/40 Club with accommodation & flights included. Mr. Carter states that,
”I have always taught my kids the importance of working hard for what you want. I’ve made it my mission to empower youth by giving them access to higher education. With graduation season upon us, I’m thrilled to partner with eBay for Charity for a special auction to raise funds for students in need. The auction includes wonderful items and experiences generously donated by our supporters. There’s plenty to bid on and best of all, 100% of proceeds will go to the Shawn Carter Foundation, so know you’ll be helping to give young people facing hardships the tools they need to pursue their education and dreams.”
If the whole idea of bidding on items just isn’t for you, fans can also make donations in the form of ”symbolic gifts” ranging from $10 to $100. Each dollar amount is set aside to help a very important and specific student need.
A donation of $10 will assist students who cannot the fee of public transportation fare to get to class. Donating $25 will help college students who struggle to afford a college meal plan. A $50 donation will help aid the cost of required academic materials that tuition does not cover. Lastly, the $100 donation is set up to help to fund one day on the college bus tour, including campus visits, for a student who will be first in the family to attend college.
I urge anyone who can afford to help, to do so. This is an amazing effort made by eBay and the Shawn Carter Foundation.
