There were so many things that the Jets weren’t able to do and one of the major things was actually connect on first down. The quarterback situation is a never-ending woe. In plain English, Michael Vick wished the team good luck.
5-11 is the memory that we’re left with of that atrocious 2016-2017 season. However, next season is another opportunity to come in a seize the day. Enough optimism and let’s get down to business.
Michael Vick was asked about the upcoming season and he had a hilarious way of assessing it.
Man, good luck,” he said with a laugh. “I don’t even know who the quarterback is going to be. Good luck. I know there are three of them.”
Luck is always a good thing to have on your side but as he continued to discuss, the quarterbacks the Jets currently have need to be developed.
“I would throw [Christian] Hackenberg out there,” said Vick, who played with the Jets in 2014. “I would groom [Bryce] Petty. Listen, you’ve got two quarterbacks [Hackenberg and Petty] who, in their collegiate careers, were very successful.
Both quarterbacks were itching for a bigger opportunity and hopefully, this upcoming season, we will see them more on the field. Vick also touched upon another great point-at times football is made to be harder than it really is.
Now, you’ve got to bring somebody in who can cater to them and can make that work. It’s not that hard. This is not rocket science. I think sometimes, we make football rocket science. They’ve just got to get the right guy. I think coach [Todd] Bowles, he’s smart enough.
It’s a long time from now but the Jets open up the 2017 on September 10th against Buffalo.
