You don’t want it with Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas. During game three of the Celtics Wizards playoff series, a heckler behind the Celtics bench was going in on Thomas. Thomas goes back and forth with the fan and at one point says:
I will fuck you up, and you know that.
Maybe it’s because of IT’s diminutive stature (he’s listed as 5’9″) that this fan thought he could go at him. But don’t let that size fool you. In my observation, “little” guys who make it at the NBA level are not the ones you want to try. They have had to fight their whole lives because they’re small and they tend to have a chip on their shoulders.
This however is a larger issue regarding fan culture. Purchasing a ticket does not give you the right to say whatever you want to these athletes. Truth is, fans that tend to heckle and say disrespectful things to players would never do that in the streets. Why? Because they’d almost certainly get knocked out.
General rule: if you wouldn’t say it to a player’s face on the street, you probably shouldn’t say it during a game.
