MMA fans are accustomed to seeing Cris Cyborg dominate her weight class one opponent at a time but if she’d had her way, she’d fight in a one-night anything goes tournament before her career comes to an end and fellow competitor Fabrice Verdum is convinced she’d win every single time.
At UFC 213 media day in Los Angeles on Thursday, Verdum was asked how women headlining major events have changed the sport. After saying he enjoys women being in the UFC, he goes on to praise Cris Cyborg.
Calling her his favorite fighter, Verdum says her commitment to training is second to none, he’s seen her knock men out, and he absolutely believes she’d win if she had to fight three times in on night. When Verdum’s comments were shared with Cyborg she responded that her dream is to compete Vale Tudo (anything goes) before she retires.
Cyborg next faces Tonya Avenger on July 29 on the undercard of Cormier vs. Jones 2. To see Werdum’s full comments plus footage of Cyborg sparring with two-time Olympic boxing gold medalist Claressa Shields, flip the pages.
