After deciding to pick up Phil Jackson’s contract option for two more years back in April, the Knicks are having a change of heart.
On Tuesday, league sources disclosed to Adrian Wojnarowski that Knicks owner James Dolan was weighing Jackson’s future with the team. ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne has been told that clarity, aka a decision, is expected Wednesday morning.
Those close to Dolan have been pushing for him to get rid of Jackson.
The Knicks record under Jackson is 80-166; 31-51 in this past season. The Knicks have had to deal with off-court discord as well with Charles Oakley facing charges after a Madison Square Garden security melee, Carmelo Anthony no-trade clause conflicts, and Jackson shopping Porzingis.
It will be interesting to see how the latest developments affect Melo.
