Nahziah Carter’s profile is rising. An amazing poster dunk on the number one recruit followed by a picture with Hov who so happens to be his uncle. So it’s only natural that we get to learn about the kid.
Bleacher Report interviewed Carter and we learned that he has an A average, he likes Georgetown and Washington as potential schools to play at and that was the first time Jay-Z had seen him play basketball.
He explains that he goes to a prep school in Rochester and Jay lives on the west coast, so he just doesn’t have the time or chance to see him play. However, this time around Carter had a game in LA and he told his uncle to come through and he did.
Bleacher Report also asks about Jay’s “You Must Love Me”, where he unpacks a lot including the time he shot his brother at 12 years.
Here’s what Carter has to say about that.
B/R: In songs and interviews, Jay Z has claimed that he shot your dad when he was 12. Have you heard that story in your family?
NC: My father tells me some great stories from when they were growing up, and so does my grandma, but they don’t really talk about that one too much. My dad did something and they fought, but we don’t talk about it. My brothers and my sisters all know. Honestly, we usually laugh about it. I don’t know why, but we find it kind of funny. I mean, Jay Z shot our dad. That’s pretty crazy.
Damn right it’s crazy and thank God Jay has the career that he has so they can laugh about all this stuff now.
Him being Jay-Z’s nephew is nice but he has a nice game. The poster dunk over the #1 recruit is great way to get people to notice that and watch him development in the coming years.
