Do you think if these were white kids selling water or lemonade in a park that they would have been handcuffed and detained?
Not in a 1000 years, the cops would have probably bought water from them.
But, being black in America, means even if you just trying to hydrate people on hot day, you are seen as a criminal and threat to society.
According to Sgt. Anna Rose of the U.S. Park Police, shortly after 5 p.m., officers detained the three teens at 12th Street and Jefferson Drive, Northwest, for illegally vending.
A witness took photos of the three teens — all of whom are black — being handcuffed by the plainclothes police officers, which were shared widely on social media.
The teens, two of whom are 17 and the other 16, told officers they did not have a vendor’s permit, which is required to sell items on the National Mall, Rose said.
“Officers placed them in handcuffs for the safety of the officers and of the individuals,” Rose said on Friday.
Are you telling me that undercover cops have nothing better to do than hassle young black entrepreneurs?
Who goes to sell water in a park if they are planning to harm people or commit a crime? Should I be after of this little white girl who is selling lemonade on my block?
Should I call the cops because I fear for my life.
The only difference being black in America now than years ago is people are taking pics and videos to see how we are treated, but it isn’t changing anything.
