We knew it could likely take Cam Newton a little bit of time to get back into rhythm after undergoing surgery to repair a partially torn rotator cuff back in March.
In Saturday’s practice, Newton threw two back to back interceptions and had a drop in one stretch. Veteran Mike Adams and 2nd year cornerback Daryl Worley picked the former MVP on back to back throws. It wasn’t all bad for Newton, however, as he connected with Ed Dickson for a touchdown.
Noticeably missing from practice were Panthers rookies Curtis Samuel and Corn Elder along with veteran corner Captain Munnerlyn.
Munnerlyn and Elder have yet to practice during training camp and it is uncertain when Elder will be available as he recovers from a stress fracture in his knee. He is being considered a week-by-week case. Munnerlyn continues to nurse a hamstring that was tweaked during offseason training.
Second-round pick Curtis Samuel was held out of practice for the second straight day after he strained his hamstring on Thursday. It is unclear when he will return to practice.
