ESPN basketball analyst Jay Williams is the latest to weigh in on Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball. In an interview with TMZ Sports the former Chicago Bull says Lonzo’s passing ability will revolutionize the game like Michael Jordan’s scoring and predicts a $200M contract for Lonzo in the future.
Ok, the MJ comparisons are going to have people questioning Williams’ sanity and anytime you enter MJ territory the stans come out. I actually understand what Jay is saying here. He isn’t saying Lonzo will be as good as MJ, but his passing ability will have a revolutionary impact the way MJ’s iso scoring ability did.
Now, the problem with that is most basketball fans can’t see passing and scoring on the same level. But if you watch Lonzo closely, ignore the box score, the way he moves the ball and makes the game easy is on another level. When Lonzo is playing a full season with elite talent wings and scorers (not sure if that’ll be this coming season) watch how his style becomes infectious on the Lakers.
