Russell Westbrook and Chris Paul have joined LeBron in Las Vegas to get some work in this summer, according to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin. Bron and CP3 have worked out before so this is nothing new. The reigning MVP, Westbrook, has worked out in Vegas in previous summers. Nice collection of players, including Derrick Rose and Eric Bledsoe. This should be a very productive “mini camp,” iron sharpens iron and all that.
Bron is going about his summer, business as usual while the Kyrie drama sorts itself out. Reports have circulated that Kyrie is ignoring all communication from the Cavs. Suffice to say, it will be best for both parties to move on from that situation. Regardless of what happens, the Cavs will be hard pressed to beat the Warriors if we get part 4 during the 2018 NBA Finals.
The league is in an “arms race,” according to Houston Rockets GM Daryl Morey, to try and topple the warriors. We see what the Rockets, Thunder, and Celtics have done to try and compete. It will be interesting to watch this all unfold, and a key part of the developments will be these summer mini camps, runs, and workouts that happen all across the country with NBA players. Yes they work hard, compete and improve their games. But they also talk, and you better believe beating the Warriors is a topic of conversation.
