Singer Beyoncé reportedly is showing interest in becoming part of an ownership group to bid on her hometown Houston Rockets following a decision by team owner to sell the NBA franchise.

“Pop superstar Beyonce, a Houston native, is mulling an investment in the National Basketball Association’s Rockets, according to people familiar with the matter.
… It’s common for celebrities to make small investments in sports teams. Beyonce’s husband, Jay-Z, for instance, was born in Brooklyn and once held a less than 1 percent stake in basketball’s Nets. He sold his share of the team after starting Roc Nation, which represents athletes.
… The Rockets declined to comment. Beyonce’s publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure, didn’t immediately respond to an email seeking comment. The entertainer’s representatives at Sony Music Entertainment declined to comment. A spokeswoman for her husband, Jay-Z, also didn’t immediately respond.”
Beyoncé is one of the world’s most well-known celebrities, but her net worth falls just a tad bit short of being able to buy the Rockets alone.
Although husband, Jay-Z, once had a 1% stake in the Brooklyn Nets. He was forced to sell his stake, selling his share to former NBA player Jason Kidd for $500,000 after an he started an pro agency representing known as Roc Nation.
Forbes is estimating the Rockets could sell for $2 billion after their offseason moves with acquiring Chris Paul. And securing a long-term contract extension for MVP candidate James Harden.
