An Illinois woman traveling to court-appointed class never quite made it because the police were pulling her over.
Chicago Sun-Times reports that Vanessa Vargas was in route to a court ordered DUI, when a patrol car pulled her over. According to the Riverside PD Police Report an officer smelled alcohol and weed odors emitting from the vehicle. Vargas then failed sobriety tests and had a blood-alcohol concentration of .196, more than double the legal limit.
A police search of the vehicle uncovered open beer can and 18 grams of weed. Vargas now faces new charges of driving under the influence of alcohol; driving under the influence of drugs; driving with open alcohol in a car; and possession of cannabis.
