A Nashville woman was arrested after she shot a homeless man that asked her to move her car.
The Tennessean.com reports that Katie Layne Quackenbush has been charged with attempted murder after shooting homeless man Gerald Melton on Aug. 26. Quackenbush’s father says she fired two warning shots after the man threatened to harm her while Melton maintains that the altercation began when he asked her to move her Porsche.
Metro police detectives say that Melton was “trying to sleep on the sidewalk” around 3 a.m. near 901 19th Ave. South near Music Row when he “became disturbed by exhaust fumes and loud music coming from a Porsche SUV,” according to a news release.
Quackenbush was booked into jail on Monday and given a $25,000 bond.
