Seahawks running back Eddie Lacy is tired of being fat shamed. The ex Packer running back has been publicly dealing with his weight issues since his time in Green Bay. He recently sat down with ESPN for an interview in which he revealed that fans on Twitter have really been going hard and how it has impacted him.
I could pull up my Twitter right now and there would be a fat comment in there somewhere. Like I could tweet, ‘Today is a beautiful day!’ and someone would be like, ‘Oh yeah? You fat.’ I sit there and wonder: ‘What do you get out of that?
Lacy has weight incentives built into his contract with the Seahawks as they want him to maintain a health playing weight. To his credit Lacy has been sticking with the program and is meeting his goals.
I hate that it has to be public. Because it’s like, if you don’t make it, what happens? Clearly you don’t get the money, but whatever. I don’t really care about that. It’s just more the negative things that are going to come.
Obviously there is a psychological part to this that Lacy is dealing with. He knows what he has to do to keep his weight down but clearly it is a struggle. It can’t be easy trying to manage a difficult situation while being ridiculed in public.
