LaVar Ball is on record saying he’d beat any NBA legend one-on-one, his son is better than Steph Curry, & that LeBron James himself couldn’t stop him in his heyday…so you knew once the season came around, his crazy predictions would continue.
He’s again taking aim at the NBA (& western conference) champion Warriors, appearing on the Flagrant Two Podcast to proclaim that all his son Lonzo & Laker teammates needed to do was to make it to the conference finals; & Golden St would be in a world of trouble:
“I’ve got a vision for this year, [The Lakers] are gonna win them 50 games, and they gonna get in them playoffs, and the story that’s gonna be for L.A. is Steve Kerr versus Luke Walton. That’s gonna be a hell of an L.A. story, because he don’t want that matchup. Luke know them tendencies, for that type of team. He knows ’em. And then there’s another big story that y’all gonna have: The bigmouth father LaVar said his son was better than Steph Curry — now let’s see!
“If they get them suckers in the Western Conference finals, the Lakers are gonna get them. And when they get to the Finals, my son ain’t gonna lose.”
You have to give the man credit, he firmly believes in speaking his realities into existence. Some would look at this as unnecessary pressure being heaped on a rookie star player, & his young teammates; but it can also be looked at as yet another challenge; which so far, Lonzo has been able to meet all throughout his basketball life.
The Warriors will no doubt have no shortage of bulletin board material from the mouth of LaVar Ball, so the first meeting against the Lakers will be must see TV. When was the last time that was the case?
Call it the “Ball Effect”. Remember when everyone said he’d be so bad for basketball?
