The Cincinnati Bengals are 0-2 and through eight quarters of play are yet to score a touchdown. The team fired offensive coordinator Ken Zampese and now according to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, Andy Dalton could be the next move. Reports indicate that head coach Marvin Lewis was facing a “mutiny” if he didn’t move on from Zampese and now the feeling in the locker room is that Dalton’s on a short leash. If he doesn’t play better under new OC Bill Lazor, Dalton will be sent to the bench. The question is where do they go from there?
The NFL has a serious problem at quarterback, which I wrote about here. The Bengals have A.J. McCarron, who is best known because of his wife Katherine Webb. Some players are hoping the Bengals go outside the organization and look at Colin Kaepernick.
The team is at the point where Dalton has to step up to a slightly above average level and so far, he’s been unsuccessful. Not sure that McCarron is the way to go, but if I’m Marvin Lewis I would kick the tires on Kap. He’s better than what is currently on the roster. Because if things don’t improve quickly, Lewis will be the next person on his way out.
