Marcus Peters rode the train home with his good friend Marshawn Lynch after Lynch was ejected from last week’s Chiefs-Raiders game, and now Peters wants to help even more.
Lynch was suspended for 1 game by the NFL for making contacting with an official, and he immediately filed an appeal of the suspension. According to ESPN, Marcus Peters wants to speak on Marshawn Lynch’s behalf when evidence is presented during the appeal. There has been speculation that Lynch was trying to protect Peters during the scrum that caused Lynch to run onto the field and eventually bump an official. Peters may want to explain those details during the upcoming appeal hearing, if he can find the time during his schedule to speak via telephone.
Even if Peters does speak for Lynch, it is unlikely to have any effect on the original suspension decision. Making contact with an official is a no-no in virtually every sport, so I expect Lynch to serve the one game no matter who speaks for him.
