One could only imagine what is going through Michael Smith’s mind right now. He and Jemele Hill are like family and like many at ESPN he’s not happy she has been suspended for speaking the truth about Jerry Jones, The NFL and racism.
For the moment he won’t be hosting the SC6.
Here is the scoop via The WRAP.
Michael Smith won’t be anchoring ESPN’s “SC6” tonight.
The male anchor’s decision was a “mutual” one between he and the network, TheWrap is told. Smith’s co-host Hill was suspended for two weeks today for a second violation of ESPN’s social media policy.
As far as how long Smith will stay off air that is yet to be determined. My sources tell me discussions are ongoing how to handle it for the next two weeks.
Smith is in a very tough spot as of course he wants to support his friend, but ESPN likely is going to pressure him to go back on air with another co-anchor sooner than later. It is expected that Smith will be back tomorrow.
Flip the pages for the tweets from Jemele Hill that got her suspended. They weren’t bad at all, but the NFL and Jerry Jones has ESPN under their thumb…
